COPLIN PLANTATION SCHOOLHOUSE HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Mission and Purpose Statement

The CHPHSS Mission is collecting, preserving, and studying the history of Coplin Plantation and its neighbors, Wyman Township (once part of Coplin Plantation) and Langtown Plantation.

The CHPHSS Purpose is to: preserve and showcase the Coplin Plantation Schoolhouse which closed in 1943. It's one of a few one-room original schoolhouses in Maine today; preserve the Plantation's Annual Reports, old newspaper articles, documents, and articles of interest;  perpetuate the memory of those who attended the school and the spirit of those men and women who built the Plantation.

CPSHHS will promote our purpose through oral interviews, collection of materials, provision of facilities for the display, and preservation of such materials. We will achieve this, in part, by working with other Historical Societies with similar interests.
